Japan's annual dolphin massacre
Every year in Japanese coastal towns, fishermen slaughter thousands of dolphins and small whales in a government sanctioned secret massacre. In Taiji, the dolphin hunt goes on from September through March. Promoted as central to the Japanese food culture, the main reason for the massacre is so-called pest control. Animals Count abhors this practice and urges the British government to pressure their Japanese colleagues to stop the capture and killing of dolphins.

Remember the animals in war - they had no choice
We owe our freedom to all those who fought and fell in war and remembrance ceremonies were held across the country today. Animals are the hidden victims of war. They have been used as messengers, for detection, scouting and rescue, as beasts of burden and on the frontline. Millions have died, and thousands continue to be used around the world, directly, and indirectly, for example in testing biological and chemical weapons. Animals Count denounces such use as unethical and unnecessary.

Animals Count to contest 2010 General Elections
Animals Count will contest the 2010 General Elections. This was decided at the third party conference on 19 September. The National Officers were also elected. The conference was closed with a delicious 3-course meal and an auction, which raised much-needed funds for the 2010 elections.
